It’s about that time of year again, Redwings! The leaves are starting to change, and so is Benet.
On Friday the 13th, Benet hosted the Nightmare on Maple Street once again. With the help of some Benet students, Benet was transformed into a haunted house and a Soc Hop for both students and staff to enjoy. This spooky event began last year when the then-sophomore representatives took it upon themselves to create a fun event to help raise money for the annual Christmas Drive. Now, due to its great success from last year, SG is at it again! This year, they constructed an even scarier experience! According to Junior Representative Kiki Sobkowiak, “Last year it was a kids festival with games and events targeted at younger people. This year, we’re really trying to focus on a scarier experience for high school students”.
While there were not any “Five Test Fridays” lurking around Benet’s halls, the haunted sights included students, zombie cheerleaders, scary jocks, and even a ginger principal! Junior Annie VanDeWalle said, “Nightmare on Maple Street is different from any other event we have at Benet. SG puts so much effort into making the haunted house scary and entertaining, and the addition of a Soc Hop this year is sure to make the night memorable for all who attend”. SG pulled out all the stops this year, and created the most spine-chilling event of this spooky season!
