Benet Academy students are now almost a month into school. The introduction work is over. Things have started to get more difficult and students have gotten busy. The last thing some students want to do is wake up before the sun and spend 6 hours at school. Students get bored, get distracted, or simply do not pay attention at times. This can make them unable to understand the lesson or unable to follow along. This leads to the question, “How can students pay better attention in class even in situations when they are bored or exhausted?”
The first possible way to pay better attention in class is to get more sleep at night. At times that might feel like a lofty task, especially with the hours of homework stacking up. However, another hour of sleep is worth it for how much more attentive you would be. Be more productive and efficient during the day to free up the night and allow for more sleep. More sleep will allow your brain to be more focused in class.
A second possible way is to stay engaged in the class. Take thorough notes in classes that may be dull. Ask good questions and stay involved in the classroom. Perhaps, challenge yourself to ask one question per day, per class. This will help you stay engaged and attentive in all of your classes.
The last possible way to be more attentive in class is to “turn off all of your distractions”. This could be taken in a realistic sense, such as turning off your iPad notifications or deleting games so you do not feel the need to play them. It could also be taken in a figurative sense, such as telling your friend to stop talking to you during class or removing yourself from a distracting environment. Both ways of looking at, “turning off all of your distractions”, are great ways to stay attentive in class.
All three of these ways will help Benet Academy students pay attention in class and help them maintain their academic excellence.
