On May 3, 2023, the Benet Girls Track Team competed at the East Suburban Catholic Conference track meet at Carmel Catholic High School. However, before the bus left the Benet Academy parking lot, one event was already underway, Pole Vault. With first and third-place finishes in Benet Academy’s built-in competition, everyone else was ready for the meet. After 12 incredible performances, the field events scored 76 points by the time it was to begin the running events. Anxiety was high during these races as heat sheet times were all over the place, meaning no one knew exactly how the 4×400 relay team would start. As the event ended, the team gathered on the last curve to cheer on the last four runners of the night. After hard-fought races, tough calls, and the disqualification of another team, the races were over. Hearts were pounding as Benet Academy looked at the score. When the final score lit up on screens, Benet Academy had a score of 187 points, winning against the other teams by 101 points, the most ever in Benet Academy history. After five hours at the East Suburban Catholic Conference meet, Benet Academy was again conference champions.
