2019 Super Bowl preview: Football for all ages

This Sunday, February 3rd at 5:30 CT marks the kickoff of Super Bowl LIII. This year’s game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, making this the third Super Bowl hosted in Atlanta and the first inside of the new stadium, which opened in 2017.

The American Football Conference is represented by the New England Patriots and the National Football Conference is represented by the Los Angeles Rams, playing of the title of champion of the NFL. The Patriots and the Rams have faced off in the Super Bowl before, as they battled in Super Bowl XXXVI, where the highly favored Rams lost 20-17.

This year marks the Patriots third consecutive Super Bowl appearance and their 11th overall. Led by the legendary pairing quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick, New England looks to continue their dynasty and reach the pinnacle of the sport yet again.

For the Rams, this will be their fourth overall Super Bowl appearance. With 33-year-old head coach Sean McVay at the helm, they represent a new generation of talent squaring off against the old guard. Players like Jared Goff, Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley will surely give the Patriots a run for their money.

For those who are not interested in the game, there will still be plenty to enjoy. This year’s halftime show is headlined by Maroon 5 and will feature rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi, the latter of whom being an Atlanta native. Plus, the Super Bowl always brings out the best commercials every year, so there will be something for everybody this year.

This year’s Super Bowl matchup showcases a traditional, old-school style of the Patriots against a young and innovative style of the Rams; making this an especially interesting game to watch. Be sure to tune in this Sunday and enjoy the game!
