Benet girls basketball off to a hot start
The Benet Academy girls varsity basketball team is well into a victorious season. Coached by veteran Joe Kilbride, the varsity roster consists of a star-studded cast like Wisconsin-committed junior Brooke Schamrek, and seniors Lauren Stack, Ashley Konkle, and Clara Prasse.
With their current record of 20 wins and only five losses, it is hard to put a cap on what the Redwings are capable of accomplishing in the postseason. They have proven to be a team that can catch fire easily, as made evident by their two nine-game winning streaks this season. Their ability to get on a hot streak could bode well for their success in the playoffs.
It should not go unnoticed that nearly all of Benet’s wins were not close games. Twelve of their victories came by margins greater than 20 points, showing just how dominant they have been to kick off the year. Their most impressive win so far this season was a game held at Hinsdale Central High School on December 8, where the Redwings won with a score of 50-7. Coach Kilbride says that he is proud of what the girls have accomplished so far and can’t wait to see what they achieve in the future.
