Back to back: Benet hockey wins Belle Tire Classic for second consecutive year
Over the last weekend of September, the Benet Academy Redwings hockey team won the Belle Tire Back to School Classic in Detroit for the second consecutive season. The Redwings played in five games and won four of them. They began the tournament with a 1-1 tie against Chelsea and never looked back, following up the tie with four consecutive victories. They picked up a 3-2 overtime win in the semifinal before finishing off the tournament a 3-2 shootout win against the Sylvania North Stars to secure the championship title.
Benet now turns their focus to conference play in the Chicago Catholic Hockey League. The Redwings began conference play with a 4-2 loss at the hands of St. Rita, but with 21 conference games still remaining, their season is far from over.
