The Monologue Play (from Hell)
This spring’s drama production The Monologue Play (from Hell) has been an exciting and long-awaited performance for Benet students after the amazing fall play, The Woman in Black, left audiences wanting more. However, this play takes a very different setting than the previous play. The spring play is a comedic show that really displays the many acting talents and performing skills from a wide variety of accomplished individuals with the simple goal to just have fun on stage. The main plot of The Monologue Play (from Hell) is initially about a teacher who organizes students to read and perform monologues, but slowly they become very distracted. Soon the play is thrown into a swirl of theatrical hilarity and quirky interactions between characters and the play takes off from there.
Casey Goldman (‘21), one of the twenty-one cast members, said that the most exciting thing the cast looks forward to showing the audience is “the dorky monologue about a Star Wars fanfiction… because the actor does a hilarious job with it.” Although this play does not have a definitive message, it still spreads the simple humor and gift of acting we so often find in everyday life, but so often forget. This upcoming performance is headed by Mr. John Leffler and is sure to be a big hit as we slowly come to the end of the school year. This highly anticipated show will be on the St. Daniel’s stage from Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, April 29 at 7:00 PM each night. Be sure to catch this unique and unconventional theater show because it’s definitely not a show to be missed!
