Kindness Rocks

On a sunny afternoon in September, SALT met with the Human Rights Club at Herrick Lake to paint rocks. The intention was to collect rocks and paint positive messages on them to be spread around the lake. Benet students created fun colors and beautiful designs on their rocks, then walked around the paths in the forest preserve leaving their rocks for others to see and enjoy. Everyone wore masks and stayed socially distant on their own blankets but it was still a wonderful chance to meet new people and talk to old friends.

Students who attended were able to talk to Father Michael, too. He got to know everyone and commented on the creations people were working on. At the end of the event he led the group in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet. He blessed the rocks so that they might bring peace and happiness to everyone who saw them and encouraged the group to continue to do random acts of kindness and small gestures to spread love. All of the people involved in the Kindness Rocks Project felt grateful for the opportunity to spread joy throughout the community.
