Christmas Drive Breakfasts Reviewed and Ranked

Like Elves, Redwings like to stick to the four main food groups: Candy, Candy Canes, Candy Corn, and Syrup. During the Christmas Drive, many games and fundraisers happened. The easiest way to raise money is multiple breakfasts and bake sales. Multiple clubs, teachers and students worked hard to give the most money to charities possible. This year, The Herald decided to send a food critic to each breakfast and bake sale to see which one was the best. Every breakfast attended was amazing and super fun. Now, the rankings are in! The first place breakfast goes to…drum roll please!

The Mother’s Club breakfast. This breakfast was held on Tuesday, December 6 and for five dollars, all four classes of students could enjoy a buffet of Jamba Juice smoothies, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage and much more. Christmas music, an essential for everything in December, played while students socialized for a good hour. Mom volunteers dressed in festive colors and sweaters while serving with a smile.

The second place breakfast was the German Club’s breakfast. This fun event happened early morning on Tuesday, December 13. Although there was less of a variety, they proved that it was the place to be. Playing German music, blowing air horns and providing delicious breakfast foods such as donuts, fruit, Nutella and bread, it was a very nice way to start the morning for only two dollars.

The third place breakfast took place on Wednesday, December 14 in Dr. Jennifer Gimmel’s room. She won the prize for best decorations. There was a doll Ferris wheel, Christmas lights and different stations where students were cooking. It was such a party; shadows could smell the delicious food from St. Joseph hall.

Breakfasts were not the only fun the Redwings had with food. Throughout the two weeks, sales of hot chocolate, pancakes, whip cream shots and candy canes galore. One famous sale of Benet’s Christmas Drive is Mrs. Ashley Alcorn’s Bacon Fridays. For one to three dollars, depending on how many pieces a person wanted, the hungry high-schoolers were able to enjoy the perfection of bacon. The bacon was as good if not even better than its reputation. It was not too crispy or chewy, it was the perfect mix.

On both Thursdays of Christmas Drive, the 8th and 15th of December, students paid one dollar for a small and three dollars for a large peppermint ice cream sundae. Along with the ice cream, students had options to add chocolate sauce, whip cream or both. Thank you to Student Government for teaching Benet that even when it is negative degrees outside, it is never too cold for ice cream!
